Discover China’s history, legacy and place in the modern world on a journey that takes you on to an encounter with the Dong people, a Yao village, the Forbidden City and Great Wall.
In China, we take students on field-based academic treks that meet course objectives by blending traditional lectures and theory with remarkable, hands-on experience. From the Ming dynasty to China’s modern business world, you will witness how China’s history and legacy has shaped its role in the world today as well as its place in the global economy. Push off from Hong Kong and venture to hilly Yangshuo, to the Dragon’s Backbone Rice Terraces on up to Tiantouzhai, and to the spectacular Avatar Hallelujah Mountains and beyond. There’s so much to see, learn and experience. Visit five different ethnic minority villages and take part in meaningful service learning opportunities. Tour a working factory in Beijing and see China’s modern business machine in action. Gain a basic understating of Mandarin and learn how to form common Chinese characters.
