Two natural science credits available through Lesley University. 

Course description: This course explores topics in marine science through the examination of biological, physical and chemical composition of marine communities. Coursework consists of both academic discussions and hands-on field research. Learn common research techniques and equipment used by marine biologist.

Course objectives: 

  • Gain a greater understanding of the oceans and marine life.
  • Understand how individuals, populations and marine communities interact with each other and their physical environments.
  • Practice field research techniques.
  • Learn about the major threats to marine environments.
  • Convey the importance of research for managing marine ecosystems.
  • Collect, analyze and interpret data to present effectively.

Two PADI scuba certifications available:

  • PADI Open Water Diver
  • PADI Advanced Open Water Diver

Five hours of service learning through projects that support conservation efforts with the local parks.

Requirements:

  • Available to students completing grades 9-12. No additional experience necessary.
