How do you like your Costa Rica and Nicaragua? We like ours adventurous, challenging and wide open for fun, with endless opportunities for skill mastery. We like charming Costa Rican villages with warm families waiting to welcome us into their homes. We like raging whitewater, lush rainforests, and diverse national parks. We like active volcanoes, lazy beaches, soothing hot springs and cloud forest. On this language immersion program, everything we want out of Costa Rica is everything we get.
Start off in San Jose. After a quick whitewater rafting trip down the Pacuare River near Turrialba, we head to the river valley town of Orosi for our language studies. How quickly we assimilate into the community. Spanish classes are intercut with cultural workshops and friendly soccer matches with locals. And now for something completely incredible — Nicaragua. The scenery and accents may have changed. But the takeaway is the same: personal growth mixed with adventure and fun.
“My homestay experience was really valuable. I grew closer with my friends and “family”, learning lots of new Spanish.” — Emily Carney Chicago, IL
Prepare yourself for Nicaragua’s staggering beauty. Hailed as “The Next Costa Rica,” we explore the seaside town of San Juan del Sur, bustling Granada, and the lush island of Ometepe in Lake Cocibolca.village of Los Munonces – where we embrace selflessness and work to improve the lives of Nicaraguan schoolchildren. It’s beyond rewarding.
