Thinking about applying to work with Broadreach? Not sure what to expect?

Keep reading to learn more about our hiring process as we get excited to learn more about you!

Applying for a Summer Job at Broadreach

We have one application on our website, this application is the same for about a dozen different positions. Do your best to share examples of your experience of working with students and your excitement for traveling and leading programs. Answer as many of the questions as you can. Plan to spend 30-45 minutes to complete the full application. Some companies have multiple applications to complete, Broadreach just has one so you can take time to craft your story.

Once an application is submitted you will receive a summary of your answers via email.

Reviewing Applications and Interviews

We review applications on a rolling basis. In the fall and winter we review applications around the 1st and the 15th of each month. In the spring we review applications on a more regular basis, and will respond within a week of receiving an application.

After we receive your application, we will schedule an interview with our Hiring Coordinator. This conversation will last between 30 minutes to an hour over Zoom. We will chat more about the specific position, background on Broadreach, programs that correspond with that role and schedule/timeline, as well as talk through a few scenario questions. There’s nothing to prepare in advance, just come ready to learn more about us!

Second round interviews will be with a Program Coordinator, this is a more brief conversation, more of a vibe check. This is an opportunity to learn more about program specifics and locations.

Tips for a Successful Interview

  • Choose Your Device: Make sure you have access to Zoom. You can join a test meeting to make sure your audio and camera will work on your device.
  • Select a Clutter-Free Background: A clean, uncluttered background goes a long way in making a positive first impression.
  • Silence Notifications: Turn on ‘do not disturb’ on your phone. Be fully present during your interview, swiping to remove notifications can be a distraction.
  • Be Mindful of Background Noise: For example an outdoor patio might have less background noise than a crowded cafe.
  • Do Your Research: Look at our website and come prepared with questions.
  • Show Your Passion and Excitement: We want to learn more about you as a person, not just someone who can lead trips (though that’s important too!), we want to see what your excited about!

Accepting the Job!

If chosen for the position, you will receive an offer letter from us to review and sign. As the summer gets closer, we will help you sort out flights, opportunities to earn additional certifications such as Wilderness First Responder (depending on the program), and get ready for staff training that typically happens around May – June!

We are looking forward to learning more about you!
