Days building leadership and divemaster skills

  • Climb aboard your home and classroom at sea and navigate your way to becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) as you sail through the stunning Leeward Islands.
  • Learn methodology for teaching PADI academics and hone your leadership and mentoring skills through hands-on training scenarios in and around St. Bart’s and Saba.
  • Lead and manage dive activities from start to finish, including briefings, mapping open water sites, search and recovery, and facilitating positive group dynamics.
  • Anchor in St. Martin for two weeks of instructor examination preparation alongside a small group of driven students.

College Credits


Scuba Certifications

Eight physical education credits available through the American Council on Education (ACE).

Course description: This course takes driven students from rescue divers and turns them into instructors through intense immersion. Students will increase dive theory knowledge, demonstrate skills and learn to teach in-water skills to both novice divers and professional divemasters.

Course objectives: 

  • Complete knowledge development segments and pass divemaster final exams.
  • Create an emergency assistance plan for a designated dive site.
  • Complete water skills exercises, a diver rescue assessment, a dive skills workshop and assessment, and all practical application assessments.
  • Be able to present knowledge, demonstrate and teach confined open water skills and conduct training dives.
  • Pass all written exams with a 75% or higher in preparation for the Instructor examination at the end of the program.

Three PADI scuba certifications available:

  • PADI Divemaster
  • PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI)
  • Emergency First Responder Instructor (EFRI)

One sailing certification available:

  • Broadreach Intro to Yachting


  • Must be at least 18 years old to participate.
  • PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum of 80 logged dives prior to start of program.
  • Current EFR certification (preferably with Care for Children).
