Itinerary

Day 1-2

Meet the crew

Get ready to kickstart your sailing skills and get set for a lifetime of sailing adventures to come. From the second you push off from Anse Marcel in St. Martin, it’s nonstop training, exploration and fun. On day one, practice raising the sails, tacking, helming and learn about all the parts of the boat. After class is done, test out your wakeboarding or waterskiing skills in the calm waters of Grand Case. Next, a short sail takes us to the uninhabited rocky cliffs of Ile Fourche, for a sunset hike and snorkeling in a bountiful marine park.

Day 3-4

Practice, plan and sail

Your practice fields are the waters between Ile Fourche, Colombier, located on the northwest tip of St. Barts, and Gustavia. We practice mooring and docking, then visit the local town and learn how to provision for a sailing voyage. Take some time to get a taste of the local ice cream and body surf great waves on Flamands Beach. Back on board, preparation for a 50 nautical mile sail to St. Kitts means learning the art of passage planning; estimating distances, reading the charts and detailing the navigational plan.

Day 5-7

Fun in forts

Anchor in Ballast Bay and leap off the vessel for some serious fun on the water. Put on your mask, snorkel and fins to discover the turtles, eagle rays and stingrays that swim just a foot below the water line. On dry land, travel into the heart of St. Kitts, hiking up to the historic Brimstone Hill Fort – this UNESCO World Heritage Site was built in the 17th century and is one of the best-preserved forts in the New World.

Day 8-9

Give back

On the Dutch island of St. Eustatius, or Statia, gear up for a snorkel adventure along the sea wall. We take some time to work on a service project with a local community organization to give back a little to this beautiful island. We make our way to the Quill, and hike this dormant volcano which last erupted in 400 AD, the lush rainforest guiding our way up the crater.

Day 10-12

Bring it all together

Bring everything you’ve learned together on the journey back to St. Martin. You’re familiar with all parts of the boat. You understand passage planning and navigation. Take your watch at the helm and trim the sails as we head to Tintamarre. Spend one last evening anchored off a pristine white beach on an uninhabited island before saying goodbye to fellow crewmates and new friends. Reflect on how far you’ve come in such a short space of time, relive the memories, and plan for your next sailing journey together.
