Meet the Caribbean Base Staff: The Friendly Faces Greeting You This Summer

By: Broadreach HQ Scuba, Sailing

As your Broadreach Caribbean adventure draws closer, we know there’s a mix of excitement, anticipation, and maybe a few nerves. That’s why we want to introduce you to the dedicated team of Caribbean Base Staff who will be there to welcome you the moment you land.

Our Caribbean Base Staff are more than just friendly faces wearing a Broadreach shirt at the airport. They’re the logistical heart of our summer operations, ensuring every student’s journey begins (and ends) smoothly. From coordinating airport pickups to helping with gear, supplies, and the behind-the-scenes magic that keeps programs running, this team is here to support students and instructors every step of the way.

What Do the Base Staff Do?

Think of them as your first and last Broadreach point of contact on island. Here’s just a bit of what they do:

  • Greet students at the airport and escort them to the marina or program meeting point

  • Track flights and adjust plans if travel delays pop up

  • Coordinate gear, food, and supplies for all Caribbean programs

  • Support instructors throughout the summer with logistics, troubleshooting, and resupply runs

  • Offer reassurance and friendly energy to help students feel confident and cared for as they step into their adventure

Now, let’s get to know the 2025 Caribbean Base Team!

Addy Holmes (Caribbean Base Manager)

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

Fun Fact: Addy is a proud NC State grad with a background in photography.

Addy is an experienced Broadreach staff member stepping into a new role this summer as Caribbean Base Manager. He leads the team responsible for handling all logistics and student arrivals in the Caribbean. With his strong organizational skills and deep love for Broadreach, Addy is ready to make this summer one of the best yet for students, staff, and families alike.

Lizzie Maudsley

Hometown: Preston, England

Fun Fact: Lizzie teaches dance and loves netball!

We’re excited to have Lizzie join us again this summer as a base staff member! She brings a great mix of leadership experience and adventurous spirit. Lizzie has worked with student groups and led dance classes back in the UK, and has traveled extensively across the Caribbean, Europe, and the U.S. If she’s the one picking you up at the airport, expect a warm welcome and great conversation.

Joe Healy

Hometown: Raleigh, NC

Fun Fact: Joe is a Broadreach alum!

Joe’s own Broadreach experience sparked a love for travel and adventure, and now he’s returning to help create that same magic for others. With experience as a pool manager and lifeguard, he brings strong water safety knowledge and a calm, confident presence to the team. Joe is all about helping students feel supported, excited, and ready for what’s ahead.

Regan Harvey

Hometown: Jackson Hole, WY

Fun Fact: Regan has also been a student on the 12-Day Scuba + Sailing program.

Regan knows firsthand what it’s like to arrive for your Broadreach trip—and she’s here to make that transition smooth and exciting. With a background as a camp counselor and a love for hiking, skiing, and animals, Regan brings warmth and encouragement to every student she meets.

Sam Gorniak

Hometown: Chester, England

Fun Fact: Sam has coached youth football (soccer) and is always up for a team challenge.

Sam is passionate about teamwork and brings plenty of energy to the Caribbean crew. Whether he’s loading gear, coordinating transportation, or helping students get oriented, he’s focused on creating a positive, easygoing experience for everyone.

Sofia Kleiner

Hometown: Asheville, NC & Fort Lauderdale, FL

Fun Fact: Sofia is double-jointed in her shoulder and isn’t afraid to show it!

Sofia brings an upbeat, thoughtful presence to the team, along with experience leading outdoor camps for youth. She’s currently studying international business and finance at UNC Wilmington and loves dancing, singing, and making students feel right at home. She can’t wait to be part of your Broadreach journey this summer.

We hope putting names and faces to our base team helps you feel even more excited (and at ease!) as your trip gets closer. They’re here to make sure your Caribbean adventure starts off on the right foot, ready with a warm welcome and whatever you need to dive in.
