Program Prerequisites:
Touch down in San José and meet your fellow Broadreach alumni and instructors. After navigating customs, you’ll head to your hotel for a team welcome and dinner. The excitement starts right away as you reconnect with the Broadreach community and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Ease into the expedition with an adrenaline-pumping zipline adventure through the lush Costa Rican rainforest. You’ll spend the day flying through treetops, learning about local ecology, and diving into group bonding before heading back for program orientation and dive briefings. Tomorrow, the real journey begins.
Depart early for the dock where you’ll board your home for the next 10 nights: a 124-foot yacht! After a crew welcome and safety briefing, set sail into the Pacific on a 30-hour voyage toward the legendary waters of Cocos Island. Watch the coastline fade away and the open ocean take over—it’s time to unplug and dive in.
Spend these days cruising toward Cocos Island, getting oriented with liveaboard life and prepping for the dive-intensive days ahead. Use this time to review dive plans, refresh your knowledge of deep and drift diving techniques, and soak up the sun from the boat deck. You might spot dolphins or flying fish in the wake!
You’ve arrived. Over the next six days, you’ll complete up to 3–4 dives per day (conditions permitting) at iconic sites like Dirty Rock, Alcyone, and Manuelita. These nutrient-rich waters are a magnet for pelagic species—imagine descending into blue water surrounded by schooling hammerheads, graceful mantas, and swirling jacks. You may even catch a glimpse of whale sharks or tiger sharks if you’re lucky.
Surface intervals will include onboard meals, marine life talks, gear prep, and time to relax with your Broadreach crew. This is expedition diving at its best—challenging, thrilling, and unforgettable.
Savor your last ocean sunrise as you begin your return journey to the mainland. Reflect on the dives, friendships, and memories made over a celebratory dinner with the crew and your group. You’ve just completed one of the most legendary dive trips on Earth.
Arrive back in Puntarenas and transfer to San José. Spend the evening recharging at your hotel and celebrating the full-circle moment of this final Broadreach chapter.
Pack up and say goodbye to your new and old friends before catching your flight home. You’ll leave with a logbook full of epic dives, a deeper understanding of our oceans, and stories you’ll be telling for years.
