Explore the world of medicine while earning your Wilderness First Aid (WFA) certification and learning medical Spanish in the snow-capped peaks of the Andes mountains and pristine beaches of the Pacific coast.
Get ready to take your medical and Spanish skills to new heights. In a village nestled in the heart of the Andes, gain valuable medical knowledge that will prepare you for the challenges ahead. Learn general medical concepts and basic life support skills while earning your WFA certification. From the mountains it’s off to the Pacific coast where you’ll take level-appropriate courses in medical Spanish and practice various patient interaction scenarios .
Venture to a medical clinic in a remote village where you’ll utilize your Spanish and work alongside doctors and nurses in rotations including triage, pharmaceuticals, dentistry, gynecology and educational outreach. This isn’t your local hospital at home. This is a real-world, limited technology approach to healthcare that is the reality for so much of the world. It isn’t all work and no play, though. Take breaks in your medical and Spanish lessons to go on day hikes in the Cotopaxi mountains, surf the Pacific coastline, horseback ride along winding mountain trails and soak in the rich Ecuadorian culture. Esta es la vida!
