FAQs: COVID-19 and Broadreach programs

We’re watching and waiting with you. We value travel and recognize that our students have limited summers for these experiences. We will remain hopeful for summer programs, even if they are only a portion of what we’d planned, as long as we can. We are committed to being clear, straightforward and to keeping you in the loop as we make decisions in collaboration with our families.

Log in to the Broadreach portal. You can view all payments made by clicking on your balance on the right-hand navigation panel. If you purchased Trip Mate insurance, you’ll see it listed there and can find a link on the bottom right of the navigation that will take you to the policy details. If you’re unsure, please reach out to us.

Please give us a call! We will help walk you through the process. If you purchased comprehensive trip insurance, you may be covered for 75% or 100% of any payments through insurance, depending on the circumstances*. If you didn’t purchase trip insurance, we’d be happy to give you a voucher to use for summer 2021 travel for anyone you choose. *New York families are not eligible to cancel for any reason, but are eligible for cancellation due to a covered reason up to 100%.

COVID-19 has prompted us to reevaluate our cancellation policies and hope our families feel confident booking with us using our updated booking policy (see details in previous posts on this page). We hope to continue this policy into the future to provide our families with the best possible experience with Broadreach.

We have been talking with families about COVID-19 and how it may impact their summer plans. We are continuously monitoring new information and will be evaluating how conditions evolve as we get closer to summer. Most enrolled families are currently watching and waiting with us, and we remain hopeful for another amazing summer.

We are committed to remaining transparent with our families and want you to feel confident enrolling with us. We are offering $500 dollars off the cost of any program when you enroll. Here are the details:

  • Use the code SUMMER2020 when you enroll.
  • If you decide to cancel your summer plans with Broadreach, you may receive a 75% refund from insurance or transfer your tuition payment to a 2021 program – we’ll lock in our 2020 prices for you. (Some exclusions apply. Please contact us for details.)
  • If your program is cancelled, we will offer you the option to switch to another program or receive a voucher for a 2021 program.

Broadreach is closely monitoring travel recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the U.S. State Department related to the unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). We are committed to continuous evaluation of how COVID-19 impacts the risks associated with travel in general, as well as specific Broadreach programs.

Right now, we are operating as if our summer programs will run as scheduled. We have strong relationships with those in the Broadreach community, both in the countries we visit and here in the United States, and value the opportunities students have to experience adventures abroad. Given the seasonal nature of our business, we currently aim to maintain our 2020 summer program operations in as many locations as we are able. Student safety remains our priority and – as we continue to learn more about the impacts of COVID-19 – our focus will be on supporting the health of our students, instructors and the communities we work with at home and abroad.

We continue to consult with trusted sources, such as the CDC, WHO and U.S. State Department, for guidance. One of our directors, Kate Farthing, serves on the CDC’s Emergency Partners Information Connection (EPIC) and is receiving direct updates from her CDC colleagues. You can sign up for the CDC newsletter here, which will provide weekly emails about the COVID-19 outbreak.
