Day 20
Well hello again it’s David as leader. Today went pretty normal like most of the days here at Paradise Lodge. We got up at around 7:15 in the morning to cereal, fruit and toast and prepared to start our day. After leaving for the dive shop at around 8:15 we practiced our wreck reel skills for our wreck specialty. Each student would be paired with another and learn the technique for tying a line properly, how to enter the wreck and how to exit. Once again we dove the Toa-Maru for the wreck penetration. David and Zane were up first and it went nearly flawless. Next Alex and little Nicky did the same and Kristin and Kimmy followed. Afterward, the other dive boat had their chance with Monica, Leland, Harrison, Chelsea, Austin, and Greg.
After the first dive we had a great surface interval right next to our next dive site. After a feast of watermelon, bananas, tuna fish and PB&J sandwiches we got onto the boat for an amazing dive… Grand Central Station. We saw 2 blacktip reef sharks that were amazing because they stayed with us the entire time making close passes and just swimming slowly as if showing off who was in charge. After they left us with our memory cards nearly full of pics we started to head back the way we came. The other boat caught up to us during the dive and we all made our way back toward the boat to begin our safety stop. We found a sandy patch at 15 feet and played around for a while. We were going crazy trying to figure out what each other was saying. It was hilarious! After a fun ride back to shore everyone signaled for a taxi and we went back to Paradise Lodge.
Today the girls had first shower so the guys had to be patient. After everyone was nice and clean, we read and played cards then waited for taxis to pick us up for dinner at PT-109 since it was raining. After a great American dinner of hamburgers and fries we once again called for taxis to make our ascent up to Paradise Lodge, where I happen to be right now typing the end of today’s “What’s Up”. Noting is happening now but I am sure Greg will be able to tell you what happened tomorrow since he is the next leader. Lights out!
