Island hopping!

Day 10
Today, we had a chance to explore a completely different cultural aspect of Fiji and its surrounding island nations… the airports. We began our adventurous travel day at six in the morning when we left Nomads Sky Lodge and squeezed all of our luggage into a van headed for Nadi’s airport.
Our flight had been changed to 1 ½ hours earlier without us knowing it so when we arrived at the airport we had an hour to check in and get on the plane. This worked to our advantage because no one was left at the checkout counter so it was smooth sailing for us!
We then boarded our plane and enjoyed our first flight; a three hour trip to Kiribati. We hung out in the transit lounge there and reboarded the same plane, this time for a short flight headed for Narau.
Once we arrived in Narau, (which happens to be the second smallest country in the world) we deplaned again until the flight crew was ready for us. We again boarded the same plane that flew us from Nadi and we took off for Honiara. The flights were nice because they weren’t full so we were able to move around and visit with each other.
In Honiara, we cleared customs and boarded a different and significantly smaller plane to our final destination in Munda. With so much travel time today a lot of people got ahead on their summer reading, specialty diving knowledge reviews, and sleep.
After we arrived in Munda we gathered our belongings and took a short walk to Agnes Lodge which will be our new home for the next five days. There, we enjoyed a fabulously cooked dinner and were introduced to Ross and Tina, who will be helping us enjoy what are sure to be great diving in the days ahead! Chelsea Onik
