As an alumni of BR I can honestly say it was the best experience of my life. I know you hear that time and time again and I don't think my case is any different. But something that I know is different than most of the participants on BR was that I ended up waiting until I was in my 20's. Unfortunately I found Broadreach so late but I am so glad I did. I did the divemaster intern program (DIP) first session, summer '04. The trip was over two years ago and I still talk about it probably once a week. Somehow a conversation I'm in or something that is going on leads me back to an event or experience from my trip. Whenever I tell somebody that I had the chance to sail around the Caribbean for just about a month, they are in awe. It was so hard not to take my experience for granted. I mean you run around and have the time of your life and it is amazing how quickly that time zips by. In order to slow things down and truly experience everything; I would, every single day make sure I stopped to think about everything I had accomplished to get myself on that trip and reflect about my trip so far. Working as a divemaster intern was incredible, some hard work, some play and the difficult job of balancing the roles that were required. To be able to work with groups of students from beginner to advanced and to see the progress is what made my day. I wish I had found about all this much sooner in my life but it was a life experience that I know I will never forget. Thank you again to Broadreach, my instructors, the staff of Xenon II, and of course the participants of UDA11 Summer '04 for showing me, to this day, the best month of my life. –Matt Winer, DIP 2004
