A Weird Encounter!

We started out the day a bit later than normal (6:30am) because of the very eventful night off running in to the ex-president of Venezuela’s son while celebrating Mrs. Kiki Ryon’s bday. Gustavo, the ex-president of Venezuela’s son and his girlfriend Elizabeth, were also celebrating Elizabeth’s birthday. It was a night I am sure none of us will ever forget. He was a very interesting, and generous man that none of us will ever forget. Now on to the real stuff.
We started the day off with a 9’oclock lecture after breakfast and proceeded into an hour journal time at 10. When the work was done, we got into the water and completed the first of our naturalist specialty dives. We identified a variety of diverse aquatic life while 40ft under the pristine blue-green water. While this dive was where we all learned the meaning of “Charlie Foxtrot” as described by our skipper Sir William, we saw some very cool things. My favorite animal spotted on this dive was a very large octopus that was denned up in a nook in the reef. Amy, our superb dive instructor found its whereabouts from the large pile of bones and shells that had accumulated in front of his hidden abode. I hope there are many more to come!
