Chutes and Ladders
August 8th, a day of new experiences and a plethora of adventures. We began the day by turning our papers about primate conservation in. After breakfast, we had a cage enrichment presentation, so that later in the afternoon we would go into the cages. For cage enrichment, we split up into different groups and made all sorts of new items for the marmosets, the two spider monkeys, the three capuchins, and the red tamarin, Shrek. Our groups made bamboo ladders for the monkeys to climb on, and tire terraces in the spider monkey cage so that we wouldn’t fall on the slippery-sloped ground, and hammocks. After all of our hard work, everyone took a dip in the pool right outside our cabins.
Later that night, we had fun playing games like train the trainer and fantasy. In our first round of fantasy, we had Kelly go into a room so that the group could decide what the game was all about. Kelly was only going to ask yes or no questions. If the last word in her questions ended with a vowel or an ‘s’, then the group would reply yes, if the last word ended in a consonant, then the answer was no, and if the last word ended in a ‘y’, then the answer would be maybe. Kelly ended up as a snake on a different planet being eaten by humans. At dinner, we witnessed a world record staring contest between A.J. and Andrew, which lasted 20 minutes. Andrew won. We finished our day by writing airport cards for everyone.
