Zippidee do-day
Oh, why hello there.
So it’s Friday, and today has been a grueling journey of courage, strength, and steadfast awesomeness from the group. We awoke early and enjoyed breakfast, it would be energy we would very much need for the day ahead, for we would spend the day high up in the forest canopy in a maze of zip lines and taking our final test. But before that, we had a wonderful review session with our lovely primate pro, Sam. We each boarded the bus and were greeted by one of our go-lucky guides, Andres. As we rode to our destination he gave us information on various things we passed (for example, do you know Quepos is three feet below sea level?!). Andres was very funny, and we passed a type of palm tree that is used to make henna tattoos, he took a leaf off of the tree and gave tattoos to many of the people on the bus.
When we finally arrived at the zip lining area, we were given a quick safety brief, and then we would have to venture on and many of us would have to face our fears. We started out by venturing in to the dreaded…butterfly forest. We were surrounded by literally hundreds of horrible winged beasts, that were unrelenting in their graceful assaults. Below that was the much more cuddly and friendly serpantarium, which I found to be much more enjoyable then the bothersome butterflies. After getting our fill of nature we proceeded to suit up for our perilous journey into the tree line. We zipped, tarzaned, and repelled high above the trees, the excursion ran about two hours. It was invigorating.
After we returned we all rested, and prepared for the dreaded final exam. We snoozed, snored, and studied…and then we had dinner (awww yeah, cheeseburgers). Then it was time for the test, which was as exciting as a final exam can be. As an unexpected reward, we would get an unexpected surprise of going dancing, some danced, some didn’t, but the entire night was fantastic. After we came back we all fell asleep (except for me….i found a a tick). But the day was good, and without a final exam hanging over our head we could enjoy our last day at mono azul the next day.
