Chill… but go crazy!

Chill… but go crazy!!!!!!!

One of the best parts of the day today was that we got to sleep in!!!!!! We got to wake up nearly 1 hour later and of course with some nice breakfast awaiting us in the cafeteria. Today’s schedule was really chill so that’s what the word of the day became, “chill!” All we had to do was meet up with Erika, a Bamfield instructor to discuss about our project ideas for around half an hour and the rest of the day was pretty much ours. Olivia, Val and I had a genius idea for our project that is somewhat similar to the classic board game, battleship. After discussing our ideas with Erika we got to work immediately because we just wanted to get done with it early so we had a whole afternoon to ourselves to play cards or anything else we wanted.

Mostly everyone went to the computer lab after the discussion with Erika to start their research on their project. Olivia, Val, and I started making questions for our board game because we were thinking about making it somewhat like a trivia. To make a move, or to take a guess at where the opponent hid their pieces, you’d have to answer a question correctly first because this game had to somewhat help review for finals or to just learn. After a few hours of research and question making, Olivia and I went to the whale lab to work on our board a bit more than other which is where we saw Maggie and Kirsten working on this huge poster. This poster had a big dolphin head on it and it seems to send out sound waves. It looked really nice. I was convinced our project probably wasn’t going to be any good the way it is compared to theirs but Olivia assured me that our project would be the most awesome.

Later into the day I saw Becca and Lia work on something that seemed to be memory and so did Anny and Zara. Both their projects seemed somewhat similar at first but apparently Anny and Zara was working on a game like Guess who? After lunch everyone decided to take a small break and do something fun to not build up too much stress. We played cards for an hour or two and went to the computer lab for some Facebook. Lia, Olivia and I also checked out Rebecca Black’s new song which was hilarious.

We worked a few more hours but oh my god, the cream puffs for dinner made all the work we did seem worth it. Lia also made a drink for a few people which were AMAZING! I don’t know how she did it but Kirsten concluded it with “A drink made by someone else is always better.” Apparently in the drink there was hot chocolate, coffee and cinnamon at some special ratio Lia has in her brain.

Today was pretty nice, we had a lot of free time and had so much work done. Although it was a day of hard work there is always this feel of satisfaction afterwards. The quote I decided to share today was “If you don’t like it, change it. If you can’t change it, change the way you think about it.” No one really likes a lot of hard work and also having to study for a final exam we had the next day but we can’t really change it, so instead as a group, we decided to look at it as a celebration of knowledge. We learned a lot today, and a lot of this information is going to stay with us our entire life. Honestly I never thought this trip to be as good as it is today when I first arrived. I love everyone I travel with and only wish this trip could last longer.

I had a meeting with the counselors Leah and GW being the leader of the day that went pretty late. After the meeting, outside was pitch black but no, I didn’t need to be afraid of walking back to the dorm alone. I had Becca and Olivia waiting for me. Although they might not know it, I really, really appreciate them waiting through a meeting that was around an hour and longer and also everyone else for just always being there for me and everyone else. It’s also really nice once in a while playing cards with friends and somewhat away from technology :)

Peace :)
