International Development

Harness your passion to bring about change.

All over the world, individuals and organizations are working on incredible projects and initiatives that are saving lives, improving schools, and keeping habitats and ecosystems healthy and protected. While the desire to effect change in needy communities is admirable, the challenges and roadblocks that often arise - including infrastructure, weather, detractors, politics and money - aren’t always so easy to overcome. Our International Development programs will show you how a passion to do good is turned into strategic and effective solutions to real-world problems. Visit wind farms and geothermal hotspots in Chile and examine various approaches to alternative energy. Work at an organic coffee farm cooperative in Guatemala on a trip that explores the inner working of nonprofits. In Brazil, live among the Jauperi tribe and see how they practice sustainable agriculture in the Amazon rainforest. Or in Cambodia, meet people and communities who have successfully used microloans to lift themselves out of poverty. This course will open your eyes to the joys as well as the realities of community service, and inspire you to find new ways to make a positive impact in the world. Below you’ll find a list of our international development programs, all of which include community service hours. In addition, each one includes the option to earn college credit through Lesley University. Use the filters on the left to further sort by area of interest, location or grade.
