Day 1–3
The adventure begins when we travel as a group from New York
to Marsa Alam on the Egyptian Red Sea coast. We settle into our
traditional huts just steps away from the beach in the old fishing
village of Marsa Um Tondoba. This off the beaten track, eco-friendly
oasis is all about scuba! With unlimited access to shore diving
and some of the best dive sites in the Red Sea just a boat ride
away, we don’t waste any time getting into the water to marvel at
dazzling reefs and an abundance of marine life.
Day 4–8
Dive, Dive, Dive! Head out to explore Shaab Samadai, a stunning horseshoe shaped reef that is home to a school of spinner dolphins. Plunge below on Abu Dabab, a collection of reefs that is home to dugongs, giant pufferfish, guitar sharks and blue spotted rays. Discover vertical walls covered in brightly colored soft corals at Check Point and Marsa Mikki. Complete your Advanced Open Water and Emergency First Responder (EFR) certifications as we get ready to start Rescue Diver training. When not diving, enjoy the barren beauty and relaxed pace of life in Marsa Um Tondoba. After feasting on local cuisine, watch the moon rise over the sea, then spend the evening in a “Bedouin tent” lined with colorful rugs and cushions enjoying a cup of karkade tea.
Day 9–11
Time to dry out and what better place than the desert! Hiking in the glow of the moonlight with our Bedouin guide, we venture up Mt. Sinai to take in an unforgettable sunrise. Visit the ancient St. Catherine’s Monastery, home of the “burning bush”, and ride camels to an oasis. Venture through the Colored Canyon where the morning sun “paints” the walls with strokes of red, yellow and orange. Sleep cradled in the sand dunes under an intense blanket of stars.
Day 12–14
Anxious to get back into the water, we swap our sandals and
shades for masks and wetsuits. Climb aboard the Enigma and embark
on an epic 7-day live-aboard scuba adventure. A highlight of our voyage
is the Straits of Tiran where we dive the world-famous reefs of Gordon,
Thomas, Woodhouse and Jackson. These circular reefs start on the floor
of the Red Sea and come towering toward the surface, offering some
of the most spectacular diving in the world. Schools and schools of
fish, curious sea turtles and colors upon colors. Wow!
Day 15–17
Our live-aboard dive safari continues as we explore out of
the way spots and some of the best diving in the world. Night dive
at Ras Um Sid, hover the canyon at Tower and explore the lush coral
gardens of Paradise. Head around the Sinai Peninsula into uncharted
diving territory to discover outrageous sites — the Wreck of the Dunraven,
the Thistlegorm and more.
Day 18–21
We saved the best for last — Ras Mohammed National Park is
home to one of the seven underwater wonders of the world — the Shark
and Yolanda Reefs. We guarantee the most incredible and memorable diving
ever!
