If there was ever a place to dive and master a bunch of new skills while you’re at it, Belize is it. A Central American topical paradise that is central to any serious scuba enthusiast’s list of “must dives.” Belize is home to the largest coral reef system in the Western Hemisphere. Your adventure takes place on Belize’s outer islands on Turneffe Atoll. Snorkel the famous Blue Hole and make a scuba pilgrimage to Half Moon Caye.
Pinned between the beautiful beaches on the southwest Pacific coast and Mt. Chirripo, Costa Rica’s tallest mountain, is the lush tropical cloud forest of the Diamante Reserve. Valleys, canyons, and a string of sparkling waterfalls criss-cross the mountains on the way to the ocean. The mountain climate gives a slight reprieve from the summer heat and is the perfect place to practice climbing and rappelling on the canyon walls. From mountain streams to flowing rivers we turn our attention to white rafting. Thirty-minutes from Turrialba in northeastern Costa Rica the blue-green waters River Pejibaye and Class II-III rapids host our guide training. Part two of the raft guide training is on the Pacuare river. Surrounded by rainforest, the Pacuare is one of the best and most popular rivers in Central America. Twenty-three miles of skill building, thrill delivering, rapids with a break at the eco-camp resort on the edge of La Amistad National Park.
“Our son made great friends and discovered a passion for diving. The instructors were fantastic!” — Sharon and Gary Koenig, Longmont, CO
Panama is the southernmost country in Central America. The s-shape of Panama holds more surprises around each bend then you can imagine. Eclipsed by the famous waters of the Panama Canal, Panama’s reputation for amazing surfing is still a well-kept secret. Don’t worry we know just where to find the best surf in Central America. Off-shore winds, bathwater warm water, and the totally uncrowded surf breaks are waiting in the islands of Coiba National Park on the Pacific coast.
