It’s hands-on from the get go, starting on Caye Caulker. This Caye is just a few miles from Belize City but a it feels like you are in a different world. While Australia may be home to the world’s largest barrier reef, Belize is home to the largest one in the Western Hemisphere. Work toward PADI Scuba certifications right here.
Turneffe is the largest and most biologically diverse of Belize’s three atolls. At only 30 miles long and 10 miles wide, there’s no end to what you can learn and achieve on this tiny strip of land. The island is your base. The Oceanic Society’s Belize Field Station, on Blackbird Caye, has beach cabanas and is equipped with classrooms and research equipment. Caribbean sea on one side. Caribbean sea on the other. Mangroves all around you.
“Nick developed a much deeper understanding and appreciation for life in developing countries through this experience.” — Rania Anderson, Mission Hills, KS
