Broadreach instructor salaries are typical for the outdoor adventure education field. Compensation varies based on your level of experience, the length of the program and your specific program responsibilities. Along with your base salary, Broadreach compensation also covers round-trip air travel to your program location and to staff training from a major US airport, as well as a stipend for travel to staff training. Meals, accommodations and approved program related expenses are also covered for the duration of your contract period.

Broadreach and Academic Treks programs begin in June and typically run through the end of August. Academic Treks College programs begin in late May. Trips are usually 21 days long and most instructors lead two trips. Instructors with skill sets that are transferrable between programs may have the opportunity to lead trips in a variety of locations with different age groups ranging from junior high school students to college students. Staff members are required for staff training, pre-trip set up and post-trip debrief for all programs.
Broadreach and Academic Treks staff members are required to complete lengthy staff training before the start dates of the trip they are leading. Training takes place in May and June. Call 919-256-8200 or email staffinquiry@gobroadreach.com to learn which training dates correspond to the programs that match your skill set.
A Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification is required for every program. WFR is earned by successfully completing a 70-80 hour training course which is more comprehensive and rigorous than the 16-24 hour Wilderness First Aid course. For applicants who aren’t already WFR certified, Broadreach and Academic Treks sponsors a WFR course taught by Wilderness Medical Associates in late May. (See www.wildmed.com for more information.) The course fee is dependent on the number of enrollments and will include accommodations.
